Connect Precept to ChatGPT
Configure ChatGPT Custom Connectors to query target account insights, B2B contact data, and company enrichment natively during your conversations.
ChatGPT Custom Connector (OAuth 2.1)
Set up Precept as a Custom Connector in your ChatGPT settings interface. This leverages our secure, deployed OAuth 2.1 flow to authenticate ChatGPT to query Precept's B2B tools.
Open ChatGPT Settings
Log in to your ChatGPT account. Click on your profile icon in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar, and select Settings from the popup menu.
Access Apps Settings
In the Settings modal, select the Apps tab from the left sidebar. Locate the Advanced settings row under Developer features, and click the Create app button.
Enable Developer Mode
Ensure the Developer mode toggle is switched to ON. This enables ChatGPT to connect to custom MCP servers that you run locally or host in the cloud.
Create a New App
Enter a Name for your connector (e.g. PreceptAI). Under Connection, select Server URL. For Authentication, select OAuth and click to expand the Advanced OAuth settings panel.
Configure Connection & OAuth
Fill out the form details using our hosted endpoint:

Check the custom MCP server risk confirmation checkbox and click Create.
Add App to ChatGPT
When the confirmation popup appears, select the PreceptAI app to start integration. Click the Sign in with PreceptAI button on the prompt to open the authorization window.
Authorize Connector with API Key
Paste your secure Precept API Key (starts with pt_) generated in your Precept Developer Dashboard, and click the Authorize Connector button to approve the integration.
Verify Active Connection
Navigate back to your ChatGPT Settings -> Apps. You should see PreceptAI successfully connected under active apps list along with its server URL.
Query Precept AI via Chat
Ask ChatGPT a natural language prompt (e.g., "Find sales managers in London using Precept"). ChatGPT will automatically trigger the Precept MCP tools, track the background job progress, poll the status tool, and format the results as a neat markdown table in your conversation.
Example Usage in ChatGPT
Once connected, ChatGPT can natively use Precept to retrieve sales leads, find companies, and generate B2B intelligence tables in real-time.
